If you ever get a remote procedure call failed error when trying to get into SQL Server configuration Manager and are running SQL Server 2008 R2 then we have something in common.
In an effort to save you some time, trying the several things you may find online to fix this issue I will cut straight to what fixed it for me.
In my case it was to install service pack 2. As simple as that.
So to sum up – The fix for remote procedure call failed on SSCM – Install Service Pack 2.
